Idaho Vacation - Yellowstone Park

One of the great things about grandpa & grandma's cabin is that it is so close to Yellowstone National Park. Even though I have been there many many times, I still delight in seeing wildlife up close. This year we decided to eat breakfast in the park increasing our chances of seeing more animals out in the open. Last year's Yellowstone trip brought a bear and we were hoping for another one. We saw a lot of wildlife, but sadly no bear. While driving down the 2 lane highway, we crossed paths with a buffalo who was walking in the opposite traffic lane. You can't get any close than that! We stopped to eat breakfast and got a few snapshots of a an elk grazing in the grass nearby. And we even watched a coyote run in between a parking lot full of cars! There was of course the usual antelope running along side us as we drove home. We had a great day in the park, seeing parts of Yellowstone that we had never seen. There was one more wildlife surprise waiting for us when we got back to the cabin. My sister and I had walked down to the river to take some pictures. Guess who was there posing for his picture to be taken? Mr. Moose! Here he is cooling off in the water. Later that week the same Mr. Moose comes back to visit us at the cabin porch; but that is a whole other story!

Idaho Vacation - Float Trip

I always love visiting grandpa & grandma's cabin in Idaho during the summer. This year I floated once again down Henry's Fork of the Snake River with my family. The water was way to cold for me to get in and swim. So I floated happily on a raft. Some parts of the river were so deep that my ore couldn't touch the bottom. Below you can see pictures of the family fun we had on our annual float trip.

Getting in the water.

Brother-in law & Brother floating canoe style.

Me enjoying the sun.

Aunt & Sister trying to stay dry.

Aunt & Cousin helping our raft go straight.

With 8 people riding on the raft and 6 separate inner tubes tied on from behind it was harder than it looks to float straight. Luckily there were some brave among us who got completely in the water and pulled us through any shallow waters. I love a good float trip!

Birthday Boy

Rusty's birthday was quite a celebration. Who knew that this boy would enjoy his birthday just as much as he did when he was a kid. He woke up bright and early and was ready for the fun. Presents always come first in our house, then breakfast. Rusty told me that he was "very good this year" and that is why he got so many presents. I had to remind him that Santa is not in charge of delivering birthday gifts...his wife is.

Here is Rusty with his Pj's and messy hair.

A movie!!! Notice how Rusty is making the same face as Howard Keel the star of the film, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Funny kid

Rusty's favorite gift! He promises many home videos to come soon for your viewing pleasure.
